European single zero has 37 pockets. Straight covers 1 pocket and pays 35:1; an even-money wager covers 18 pockets and pays 1:1. Both carry the same 2.70% house edge on this wheel even though their hit frequencies are very different.
Methodology and trust
What the calculation includes
The calculator divides the number of pockets covered by 37, 38, or 39 and applies the posted payout. Standard single-zero roulette has 37 pockets and pays 35:1 for a straight, 17:1 for a split, 11:1 for a street, 8:1 for a corner, 5:1 for a six line, 2:1 for a dozen or column, and 1:1 for even-money bets.
Different hit frequencies do not automatically mean different house edges. On a given wheel, the payout usually changes in step with the number of pockets covered.
