Super 6 Baccarat

A core explanation of the common Super 6 no-commission structure, including the Banker-6 exception and separate side wagers.

Super 6 Baccarat is a no-commission baccarat variant in which the normal commission on winning Banker wagers is removed and replaced by a reduced payout on a specified Banker result. In the common Super 6 structure, Banker wins pay 1:1 except when Banker wins with a final total of 6, which pays half profit. That is the central rule a player must understand before comparing the game with standard commission baccarat or another no-commission variant.

The product is defined by the exception

Standard commission baccarat normally pays a winning Banker wager at 0.95:1, reflecting the 5% commission. Super 6 changes that presentation. Most winning Banker wagers are paid at even money, while a winning Banker total of 6 receives the reduced payout.

For a $100 Banker wager, the common comparison is:

Banker wins without the exception$95 profit$100 profit
Banker wins with 6$95 profit$50 profit
Player wins$100 profit$100 profit

The exact approved paytable always controls. “Super 6” is a useful product name, but the posted rules at the table are the final authority.

The key conceptual point is that no commission is not the same thing as no house edge. The cost has moved from a frequent deduction to a particular outcome.

What happens when the cards are dealt

The underlying baccarat drawing procedure remains the relevant baccarat procedure for the approved game. Players wager on Banker, Player, or Tie before the hand, cards are dealt, and the final totals are determined according to baccarat rules.

The special Super 6 question comes after the result is known: did Banker win, and if so, did Banker finish on 6?

A baccarat total uses the last digit of the card-value sum. A hand worth 16 therefore has a baccarat total of 6. If Banker wins with that final total, the common half-pay rule applies.

A Tie is not a Banker win. If both sides finish on 6, the main wagers normally push. Optional wagers can have different rules.

Why the variant feels simpler at the table

The operational appeal is straightforward. A dealer does not have to calculate and collect 5% commission on every winning Banker wager. Most ordinary Banker wins can be settled at even money.

That can make the game easier to explain and faster to settle. It also concentrates attention on one exception that dealers must recognize correctly.

The trade is therefore not “easy money for players.” It is a different settlement workflow:

  • ordinary Banker wins become simpler;
  • Banker 6 becomes the critical exception;
  • side bets, if offered, create separate settlement rules;
  • the table still needs clear signage and accurate payouts.

A product can be operationally simpler while remaining mathematically priced for the casino.

What a player should compare before choosing a table

The useful comparison is not the words “commission” and “no commission.” Compare the entire payout structures.

Check:

  • normal Banker payout;
  • Banker-6 payout;
  • Tie payout;
  • side-bet paytables;
  • any limits or special table conditions;
  • whether the exact game is Super 6, EZ Baccarat, or another variant.

A player who compares only the normal Banker payout will miss the event that supplies the replacement price.

This also explains why two casinos can advertise “no-commission baccarat” while offering materially different mathematical products.

The side-bet menu is a separate product layer

Some Super 6 tables offer an optional side bet tied to Banker 6 or another qualifying event. The side bet is not the mechanism by which the main Banker wager receives its half-pay treatment.

If a player makes $100 on Banker and $10 on a Super 6 side bet, there are two wagers with two paytables. An ordinary Banker win can make the main wager win while the side bet loses. When the side bet wins on its usual Banker-winning-6 trigger, the main Banker wager—if it was also placed—wins at half profit under the common Super 6 rule. Separate settlement does not mean opposite winning sides.

The side bet therefore belongs in a separate cost calculation. If the player wants to understand the main game, start with Banker, Player, and Tie. Add optional wagers only after their own payouts and probabilities are understood.

Where the house edge comes from

The house edge comes from the probability distribution combined with the payout schedule.

A normal Banker win receives more favorable treatment than in commission baccarat because the 5% deduction is gone. The half-pay Banker 6 result gives the casino enough value back, under the specified rules, to preserve a mathematical advantage.

That is why the right equation is:

Expected value = sum of each possible result’s probability × its net payoff.

The result is not determined by the slogan on the sign. It is determined by the full paytable and the game’s probabilities.

Because rule variants can differ, do not carry a single house-edge number from one no-commission game to another without checking the exact structure.

Why the casino may like the format

The format can reduce repetitive commission handling and make the core wager easier to communicate. A normal Banker win is straightforward to settle, while the exception is concentrated in a clearly defined result.

From an operations perspective, that can mean:

  • less routine commission arithmetic;
  • a simpler player-facing message;
  • a predictable exception for training;
  • a different error profile that supervisors can monitor.

The benefit is lost if dealers routinely miss Banker 6 or if side-bet procedures slow the table enough to erase the operational gain. Product performance therefore includes both mathematical yield and operational execution.

What the variant does not change

Super 6 does not make baccarat predictable. A Banker 6 does not make the next hand more likely to be anything in particular. A recent streak does not create a reliable betting signal.

It also does not turn side bets into insurance. A side bet is an additional wager with its own expected value.

Finally, it does not mean the casino can choose payouts hand by hand. The approved rules and posted paytable govern the settlement.

The questions that matter at the table

Is Super 6 the same as standard baccarat?
No. The main difference is the commission-replacement payout structure.

Does Banker normally pay even money?
In the common Super 6 structure, yes, except for the Banker-6 half-pay result.

What does Banker 6 half-pay mean?
A winning Banker wager on a final total of 6 earns half the stake as profit rather than a full one-to-one profit.

If Banker and Player both finish on 6, does Banker half-pay?
No. A Tie is not a Banker win; the main wagers normally push.

Is the side bet required?
No. It is an optional wager when offered.

Is Super 6 automatically better than commission baccarat?
Not as a blanket statement. Compare the full paytable and the house edge of the exact game.

Can I use another baccarat variant’s rules?
Only if the current table uses those same rules.

A practical way to price a session

If you want to estimate the mathematical cost, start with total action rather than the initial buy-in.

Expected loss ≈ total amount wagered × house edge.

For example, if a wager has a 1.46% house edge and the total amount wagered over a session is $5,000, the long-run mathematical expectation is about $73 of loss. That is an expectation, not a prediction of the next session.

If side bets are included, calculate them separately using their own edge. This prevents a high-cost bonus wager from disappearing inside an average number for the main game.

Super 6 is best understood as a paytable design

The most important sentence is simple: Super 6 removes routine Banker commission but does not remove the price of the Banker wager.

Once that is understood, the rest follows. Banker 6 is the key exception, side bets are separate, no-commission variants are not interchangeable, and recent outcomes do not change the underlying math.

For a deeper mathematical treatment, continue to Banker 6 half-pay math. For the optional wager, see Super 6 side bet. For the product comparison, use Super 6 vs Dragon 7 Baccarat.

The correct mental model is not “free Banker.” It is “a different way of collecting the same mathematical price.”
